In 2024, the Stuttgart-Ulm railroad project association showed the construction site around the main railway station to around 330,000 people, more than ever before. Around 115,000 visitors to the open construction site days and a good 215,000 visitors to the central "InfoTurmStuttgart" exhibition contributed to the record result. "Thanks to the great interest and the enormous rush of visitors, we informed an average of almost one thousand people per day about the rail project," summarizes Bernhard Bauer, Chairman of the Stuttgart-Ulm rail project association. "A proud achievement by my team, which in retrospect has never been seen before in the 26-year history of the association, and which also shows the enormous interest people have in the rail project. This interest increases the closer we get to commissioning and we can read the enthusiasm and anticipation from the numerous feedbacks." With around 1,450 construction site tours, the association has also successfully concluded its management year.

Outlook for 2025
The progress of construction work on the centerpiece of Stuttgart 21, the new through station, as well as on the Stuttgart Airport mainline station, limits the opportunities for public relations work. "The shift in construction activities from the shell to the interior work makes it difficult to open up the construction site to visitors," Bernhard Bauer continues. "Nevertheless, we will try to work with all those involved to ensure that we can once again offer the three construction site open days at Easter (19 to 21 April 2025). However, this is currently still uncertain and will only be decided towards the end of the first quarter of 2025, provided that the actual construction process on the site makes this possible." The number of contractors and trades is increasing, as is the number of people working on the construction site. This makes it difficult to find gaps for construction site tours and major events. "Everyone involved would like to see the open construction site days again. However, it has to be feasible in terms of construction activities," says Bauer, summarizing the current state of planning. Guided tours of the construction site, on the other hand, are still possible to a reduced extent and can be booked at https://shop.its-projekt.de/fuehrungen-uebersicht/ can be booked.
